Basic Usage
To simply add an article to our worklist, place this template at the top of an article's talk page with the following parameters:
{{WikiProject Politics
|class=
|importance=
}}
or
{{WikiProject Politics|class=|importance=}}
- class – see the project's quality scale for details.
- importance – see the project's importance scale for details.
"Comments that explain the rating" may be added by clicking on the link within the template; other comments and questions can be discussed on the article's talk page.
Maintenance Parameters
|auto= |attention= |needs-infobox= |needs-image= |collaboration-candidate= |current-collaboration= |past-collaboration= |peer-review= |old-peer-review= |peer-review-title= |listas= |category= |small=
- auto – This parameter is for the use of bots and indicates that the article has been automatically rated:
|auto=length– based on the length of the article|auto=inherit– because one or more other projects use this class|auto=yes(or|auto=stub), in conjunction with|class=stub– as Stub-Class because it uses a stub template- Use of the above values (or value combinations) with this parameter populates Category:Automatically assessed politics articles.
- attention – set
|attention=yesif the article needs immediate attention from experienced editors. Use only if another parameter does not cover the need for attention.- This parameter populates Category:Politics articles needing attention .
- needs-infobox – set
|needs-infobox=yesif the article needs an infobox.- This parameter populates Category:Politics articles needing infoboxes .
- needs-image – set
|needs-image=yesif the article needs an image or photograph.- This parameter populates Category:Wikipedia requested photographs of political topics.
- collaboration-candidate – set
|collaboration-candidate=yesif the article is currently a candidate for the project's project collaboration.- This parameter populates Category:Politics collaboration candidates.
- current-collaboration – set
|current-collaboration=yesif the article is the project's current project collaboration.- This parameter populates Category:Current politics collaboration.
- past-collaboration – set
|past-collaboration=yesif the article was previously a Collaboration of the Month, the dash-separated dates of the collaboration period; must be left blank otherwise.- This parameter populates Category:Past politics collaboration.
- peer-review – set
|peer-review=yesif the article is currently listed for peer review by the project; see the peer review department for more details.- This parameter populates Category:Requests for politics peer review.
- old-peer-review – set
|old-peer-review=yesif the article was previously listed for peer review by the project; see the peer review department for more details.- This parameter populates Category:Old requests for politics peer review.
- peer-review-title – If the peer review page has been started or archived, but is not at
Wikipedia:WikiProject Politics/Peer review/{{SUBJECTPAGENAME}}, set this parameter; i.e. if the peer review page isWikipedia:WikiProject Politics/Peer review/Foobar, set|peer-review-title=Foobar
- category – set
|category=noif, and only if, a banner is being used for demonstration or testing purposes, to prevent unnecessary or undesirable categorization. Otherwise, omit this parameter. - small – set
|small=yesto display a small version of the template aligned along the right side of the page (as opposed to at the top). This parameter does not work as expected if the banner template is enclosed in{{WikiProjectBannerShell}}or{{WikiProjectBanners}}.
listas Parameter
- listas – This parameter, which is the equivalent of the DEFAULTSORT sortkey that should be placed on all biographical articles, is a sortkey for the article talk page (e.g. for David Cameron, use
|listas=Cameron, David, so that the talk page will show up in the C's and not the D's of the various assessment and administrative categories). This is important because it is one source used by those who set DEFAULTSORT on the article; consider also setting the DEFAULTSORT for the article when setting this parameter. For more information about this, please see Wikipedia:Categorization of people#Ordering names in a category.
It is not required if another WikiProject template on the same page has its own|listas=set.
For more information about the sort key, please see Wikipedia's institutions for sort by surname.
