Noon Chai (also called Kashmiri tea, Pink tea,1 and Sheer Chai) is a traditional tea beverage from Kashmir.2 The name "Noon" comes from a local word for salt.

Noon chai is made from special tea leaves, milk, salt, pistachios, almonds, and cardamom.3 Cinnamon is sometimes also added for flavor. A pinch of baking soda is added to help give it more of a pronounced pink color. It is consumed in many parts of Pakistan at special occasions, weddings, and during the winter months when it is sold in many kiosks.
