Guillermo José Lovell (1918–1967) was a boxer Argentine heavyweight, who won the silver medal in the 1936 Berlin Olympics.

Silver Medal in 1936

Guillermo Lovell, aged 18, won the silver medal in the heavyweight category at the 1936 Berlin Olympics. Lovell eliminated in first round at Denmark Svend Omar Hermansen, in the quarter-finals Uruguayan José Feans, by knockout in the second round, semifinals and Norwegian Erling Nilsen, who appeared as the favorite after winning two fights by knockout before.

The final will be held on August 15, against Germany's Herbert Runge, who outpointed him. evenly fought first round and hard, but the key moment came in the second round, when Lovell shot Runge the canvas. In the third round the fight given the German to win the gold medal.

Personal life

His brother, and nephews were also heavyweight boxers. Alberto Lovell, his brother, won the gold medal in the Olympic Games in Los Angeles 1932 and had an extensive career in which Argentine and South American champion. Her eldest nephew Santiago Alberto Lovell Jr, reached the quarter-finals in Tokyo 1964 Olympic Games. Her other nephew, Peter Lovell, he settled in America, where he developed an undistinguished career as a heavyweight boxer. Before, it was soccer player at the club Independiente.
